Five little firefighters sit very still. ( Hold up five fingers ) Until they saw a fire on top of a hill. Number one rings the bell, ding dong. (Bend down thumb) Number two pulls his big boots on. ( bend down pointer finger ) Number three climbs on the truck right away. ( bend down middle finger.) Number four joins him--no one can wait. ( bend down ring finger ) Number five drives the truck to the fire. ( bend down little finger ) The big yellow flames go higher and higher. ( spread arms ) WHOOO--OO! WHOOO--OO! Hear the fire truck say ( Imitate siren ) As all the cars get out of the way. Shhhh! goes the water from the fire hose spout. ( Rub palms together ) And quicker than a wink the fire is out ! ( Clap hands.)
Down at the firehouse Early in the morning, You can see our clothes Hanging in a row. When there is a fire, We can dress real fast. Boots, jackets, hats, gloves, Off we go!
Come let us ride the firetruck, The firetruck, the firetruck. Oh! we can ride the firetruck Whoo! ooo! ooo! (Children place hands on next one's shoulders making a long firetruck and the first one is the driver)
And now we use the fire hose, The fire hose, the fire hose. And now we use the fire hose, Use it so. (Children pretend to fasten the hose to hydrant and spray water on fire)

Grandparents Meet A Need
ReplyDeleteby Joanna Fuchs
Grandparents meet a need
That no one else can fill;
They’re always kind and gentle;
They love you and always will.
They have plenty of time to listen,
To encourage and to care;
When others are too busy,
Grandparents are always there.
They have delicious foods;
There’s always something cooking;
They feed you scrumptious tidbits,
When no one else is looking.
They take you special places;
They’re never in a hurry.
They soothe you when you’re troubled,
And help you not to worry.
They buy you things you want,
Even things that you don’t need;
"Do what makes them happy!"
Is every grandparent’s creed.
They focus on your good points,
And overlook each flaw;
How could we do without
Our grandma and grandpa?
Thank you, Grandpa and Grandma,
For giving life a special shine;
I’m glad to have grandparents,
And happy you both are mine!

Matches No!

Matches help to start camp fires,
when used wrong may start forest fires.
Never, ever, play with matches,
great trouble matches catch.

ReplyDeleteUnited We Stand!
This is a story of a historic event,
And this is the way that it went.
An airplane crashed thru building one,
Next thing people know two was done.
Now both buildings down of the twin towers,
While people wait for hours and hours.
They watch the police and firefighters strive,
And see if their loved ones are still alive.
Now there are two lights where the towers once stood,
And they shine very bright thru the neighborhood.
This event did not break apart the U.S.A.,
Because we are closer and closer to each other everyday.

September is like no other
ReplyDeleteIt's days change color and weather
No other month can say quite the same
For every day, I can feel the change
It's cool breezes start out warm,
Changing to cold throughout every storm
The leaves change and fall
As the Summer leaves and Autumn kisses us all
September maidens feel the change
Like the blue of the sky
Yet the color so deep
Unbelievable beauty
Maidens fall throughout and watch
Each raindropp changing through colors so fast
Yet one streak remains the same
Of that wonderful sapphire rain.
September, unlike any other
Holds you tight, in any weather.
Changes come, no matter where you go
North and you'll get stormy snow
South and feel the heat of summer coming
September does this, no matter what.
Change lives within, Nothing to stop
September is beautiful
And awesome all the same
It's hope for the future and the change
Comes swiftly as we sweep away
The Summer ends and the Autumn begins
Change is all around
With one maiden leaving
And yet, another comes
Born into the world
Of wonderful September
The sapphire skies live on
Through out this wonderful September

When I am needed, I roar and shout.

Just turn me on and head me out.

September
ReplyDeleteHelen Hunt Jackson
The goldenrod is yellow;
The corn is turning brown;
The trees in apple orchards
With fruit are bending down.
The gentian's bluest fringes
Are curling in the sun;
In dusty pods the milkweed
Its hidden silk has spun.
The sedges flaunt their harvest
In every meadow nook;
And asters by the brook-side
Make asters in the brook.
From dewy lanes at morning
The grapes' sweet odors rise;
At noon the roads all flutter
With yellow butterflies.
By all these lovely tokens
September days are here,
With summer's best of weather,
And autumn's best of cheer.

Substitute lines 3 and 4 with the following words for new verses...
It's important to say ...
With matches, don't play.
If there's smoke you should know,
you'd better crawl low.
Have a fire escape plan.
Every family can.
If there's a fire, get out.
Use your escape route.
Go to a neighbor's when alone,
Then call 9-1-1 on the phone.
Clothes on fire? Here's your goal:
First stop, then drop, and roll!

ReplyDeleteJeff Gersch
Shines though the dark crevices of a cave,
Provides light to the African tribe,
Calling this place home.
Warms homes in the torturous winter,
Places steam on the windows,
Comforts people laughing in the room.
Kills bacteria and eliminates parasites,
Sterilizes medical instruments to prevent disease,
And insures safety from deadly illnesses.
Burns forests and kills wildlife,
Destroys memories found in pictures,
And priceless objects; it shows no fear.
And on a cool night in October, heats,
Everyone as they sit around it and tell stories,
Of the world tour they have just completed.
